Depression over BoB to intensify into a Deep Depression today, heavy rainfall in Odisha

The depression over the Bay of Bengal is advancing in the Northern direction. It is likely to intensify into a deep depression today. 

Bhubaneswar: Intensity of rainfall is likely to increase in Odisha from today. The depression over the Bay of Bengal is advancing in the Northern direction. It is likely to intensify into a deep depression today.

The circulation is currently centered about 380 kilometers south of Visakhapatnam, 480 kilometers south of Paradip, and 630 kilometers south-southwest of Digha. It is to intensify into a deep depression over the West-central Bay of Bengal.

Further it is likely to change its direction to North-Northwestern, following a recurvature. By tomorrow morning, the deep depression is likely to reach the coast of Odisha, and the Bangladesh coast by November 18. Forecasts from the Indian meteorological department suggest that winds will blow from 50 kmph to 60 kmph.

Under the impact of the deep depression, several areas across Odisha are likely to experience rainfall today. In view of the same, six districts have been issued a yellow warning for today. These include Puri, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Bhadrak, and Balasore. Some places might experience rainfall ranging from 7cm to 11cm.

In view of heavy to very heavy rainfall tomorrow, Bhadrak and Balasore have been issued an orange warning. Further, three districts have been given a yellow warning for tomorrow. these include Jajpur, Mayurbhanj, and Kendrapada.

Under the influence of the deep depression, the sea is expected to remain turbulent. Hence, the fishermen have been warned against venturing into the sea during this time.
