CRPF Jawan from Odisha killed in naxals landmine blast in Jharkhand, another from Bihar injured

A CRPF Jawan from Odisha was killed while another jawan from Bihar sustained critical injuries following the explosion of a landmine in Jharkhand.

Rourkela: A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Jawan from Odisha was killed while another jawan from Bihar sustained critical injuries following the explosion of a landmine which was suspected to be planted by the naxals in Jharkhand.

The deceased security personnel has been identified as Sushant Khuntia of Anandapur in Keonjhar district, while the injured jawan as Munalal Yadav from Bihar.

Both the security forces were admitted at a Ranchi-based hospital in a critical condition. However, Khuntia succumbed to his injuries while Yadav is still undergoing treatment.

The landmine exploded when the security forces of the 60th battalion of the CRPF had gone for a combing operation at Kolhan Forest under Tonto police station limits of Jharkhand two days ago.

The CRPF jawans busted a naxal camp and seized huge cache of arms during the combing operation, said sources adding that search operation has been intensified in the area.

Meanwhile, a pall of gloom descended on Anandapur area following the unfortunate death of the Sushant Khuntia, who had married just two months ago.
