Nabrangpur: The Odisha police have arrested the couple for killing and dismembering a young woman’s body and burying her body in a pit in Murumdihi forest under Raigarh police limits in Nabarangpur district on Saturday.
The main accused are Chandra Rout and his wife. They both have been court-forwarded.
According to police, the deceased has been identified as Tilabati Gond of Bagbeda village. Tilabati on Wednesday left her house saying she was going somewhere, and never returned back. The next day, the family members and the villagers searched for her everywhere and found hat she has been chopped into 31 pieces and been buried after being murdered in a pit in Murumdihi forest near Gona village under Raighar police limits in Nabarangpur district.
Later, Tilabati’s father lodged a complaint at the Raighar Police Station on Saturday, alleging his daughter was murdered.
On basis of complaint, the police launched a probe and detained the couple.
It is suspected that Tilabati and Chandra had an extramarital affair and when his wife had an idea about the affair, there was family fued and later both of them killed the victim.
