General Elections 2024: Congress likely to announce list of candidates for Odisha today

Bhubaneswar: Congress is likely to announce the list of candidates for Odisha for the upcoming general elections today (April 2). Reports suggest that the names of 50 MLA candidates and 12 to 15 MP candidates can be announced.

According to reports, former MP Shrikant Jena may contest from Balasore. During 2019 general elections, the son former PCC president, Nabjyoti Patnaik. However, he has refused to contest this year. Meanwhile, MP Saptagiri Ulaka might become candidate for Koraput again. Saptagiri Ulaka was the only leader from the state who won the elections with Congress ticket.

Meanwhile reports reveal that Odisha film industry actor Manoj Mishra might contest from Balangir Lok Sabha seat. Reportedly, PCC president Sarat Pattnayak might contest from Nuapada.

Earlier, speaking about the possible list of the party candidates, Senior Congress leader and chairman of Odisha campaign committee informed that the grand old party will declare candidate list in first week of April.

He further said that the party will field candidate in at Narla assembly constituency in Kalahandi and will form government by winning more than 100 seats in Odisha.

Meanwhile today morning, senior leader of Kendrapada, Ganeswar Behera has resigned from Congress. The senior leader has sent his resignation letter to the Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee president Sarat Pattnayak.

Taking to his X (formerly Twitter) handle and shared his resignation letter where he mentioned that he is resigning from his primary member post in the political party.
