Kendrapada senior leader Ganeswar Behera resigns from Congress

Kendrapada: Senior leader of Kendrapada, Ganeswar Behera has resigned from Congress. The senior leader has sent his resignation letter to the Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee president Sarat Pattnayak.

Taking to his X (formerly Twitter) handle and shared his resignation letter where he mentioned that he is resigning from his primary member post in the political party.

As per reports, Ganeswar Behera was election as MLA in 1985 from Pattamundi. He again became MLA from the same place in 1995. However, he was defeated in the assembly elections held in 2000, 2004, 2009, 2019.

Earlier,  senior Congress leader and former MLA Chiranjib Biswal resigned from the Congress party on Saturday. The two-time MLA sent his resignation letter to AICC president Mallikarju Kharge and OPCC in-charge Ajoy Kumar. He later joined Biju Janata Dal (BJD).

Chiranjib Biswal was the MLA from the Tirtol Vidhan Sabha constituency between 2004 and 2009 and Jagatsinghpur MLA from 2014 to 2019. He was even the leader of the opposition at the State assembly.

Meanwhile, reports suggest that Congress is going to announce the candidate lists for Odisha today (April 2). Reportedly, the names of 50 MLA candidates and 12 to 15 MP candidates can be announced.

According to reports, former MP Shrikant Jena may contest from Balasore. During 2019 general elections, the son former PCC president, Nabjyoti Patnaik. However, he has refused to contest this year.
