Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik approves restructuring of OMS Cadre

In a bid to increase the health services across the state, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday approved the restructuring of the Odisha Medical and Health Services (OMS) Cadre.

According to reports, the Cadres will be increased from 5389 to 6711.

There will be four posts of Specialists (O&G, Medicine, Paediatric and Surgery) in all the Community Health Centres of the state.

Likewise, the state government has increased the number of Special Secretary (Super Time Pay Scale Grade) from 1 to 2 and the number of posts of Director (Senior Administrative Grade) from 5 to 12.

The total number of doctors in the Pay Band-4 has also been increased to 434 from 35.

The posts of Specialists and General duty Medical Officer of Special Newborn Care Unit (SNCU), High Dependency Unit (HDU), Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Anti- Retroviral Therapy (ART) centres, Urban Primary Health Centres (UPHC) and Urban Community Health Centres (UCHC) have been created in regular cadre.

Each post in Group A (SB) grade, Junior Administrative grade (JD) and selection grade (AD-II) has been earmarked as clinical or public health depending upon the function of that post. As many as 578 number of posts have been earmarked as Public health Posts.

Chief District Medical and Public Health Officers will be the head of the Health Administration of the districts.

There will be a Block Public Health Officer (Group A SB) at the block level who will be responsible for all public health activities.

Also, at the CHC level there will be a post of Group A (SB), designated as Superintendent CHC, who will be responsible for clinical activities of the CHCs.
