Angul: A leopard carcass was recovered from a cashew field near Mindol village under Dhandatopa range in Athamalik forest range.

It is suspected that the leopard died after falling into the trap allegedly laid by the poachers. It is still unclear about how the tiger died.It is believed that the tiger died about 3-4 days ago.

Last year in the month of January, a tiger and her cub died after falling into trap laid by the poachers near Kulangi village under Satkosia forest range.

In November 2022, a leopard was killed after poachers laid electric wires at Khesra jungle of Bamur forest in Athamalik area and four people were arrested by the forest officials.
