A group of armed miscreants reportedly locked the members of a family in bathroom and looted cash and gold ornaments at Maruti Vihar area under Nandakanan police station limits of the State Capital city.

Bhubaneswar: A group of armed miscreants reportedly locked the members of a family in bathroom and looted cash and gold ornaments at Maruti Vihar area under Nandakanan police station limits of the State Capital city.

As many as eight unidentified miscreants reportedly barged into the house of one Rakesh Chand, a software engineer, by breaking the main door at around 3 AM while the entire family was asleep.

They threatened Rakesh, his wife and two children with sharp weapons not to raise any alarm. Soon, they locked the victims in the bathroom of the house and looted cash, gold ornaments and other valuables worth lakhs of rupees.

On being informed, a team of cops from the Nandakanan police station along with a scientific team reached the spot and started an investigation into the matter.

Involvement of miscreants from outside the State in the loot is suspected as the robbers were reportedly speaking in both Odia and Hindi languages, said sources.
