Bhitarkanika National Park to remain closed for visitors from tomorrow

The Bhitarkanika National Park will remain closed for visitors from tomorrow that is January 5, 2024 till January 13.

Kendrapara: The Bhitarkanika National Park will remain closed for visitors for 9 days from tomorrow that is January 5, 2024 till January 13 due to the saltwater crocodile census. The counting of saltwater crocodiles and birds will be conducted for a total of 9 days.

The counting of the saltwater crocodiles will be organised under the supervision of the DFO of Rajnagar Mangrove and Wildlife Division. The counting officers will cover the water inlets, nullahs, and innumerable creeks where the crocodiles are generally likely to reside. The counting will be done with the help of Huli boat during both the day and night time.

Tourists are barred from entering the park to prevent noise pollution for the smooth conduct of the census drive.
