Bargarh: The Odisha Vigilance on Thursday apprehended the Bargarh Tax Collector at N.A.C., Padampur while demanding and accepting a bribe.
The Tax Collector has been identified as Dinabandhu Panda.
Reportedly, the anti-corruption team laid a trap against Dinabandhu based on the complainant for transfer of holding number and reduction of annual holding tax in respect of purchased building in the name of the complainant. The sleuths caught him red-handed while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs.25,000/-.
Following the raid, simultaneous house searches are underway at properties of Panda at two places in the Bargarh district.
A case has been filed with Sambalpur Vigilance under section 7 PC (Amendment) Act 2018 in this connection. Further investigation is in progress against Panda.
