Attempted child marriage bid foiled by Cuttack police, Groom detained

The minor's statement was recorded by the CWC (Child Welfare Committee). She is currently in the security of Child Line. 

Cuttack: In a recent incident, an attempt of child marriage was successfully foiled by the intervention of the police. The wedding ceremony was being conducted in the premises of Gadgadiya temple of Cuttack.

The groom was a painter hailing from Madhya Pradesh and the bride, a minor, was from Gurudijhatia village in Athgarh. The statement of the minor was recorded by the CWC (Child Welfare Committee). She is currently in the security of Child Line.

The case has been registered at the Cantonment Police Station. The groom and two relatives of the minor involved in the case have been held. Further investigation into the matter is underway.
