Balasore: Launching a crackdown on corrupt officials, the Vigilance Department sleuths arrested an Assistant Engineer red-handed while accepting a bribe from a Contractor in Soro today.
The held Assistant Engineer has been identified as Soro R&B Sub-Division Assistant Engineer Basudeb Prasad Sahu.
As per the complaint filed by the victim Contractor, Basudeb had demanded a bribe of Rs 2 lakh from him a few days back to clear some pending bills. Later he had taken the matter to the notice of the Vigilance Department.
The anti-corruption bureau officials laid a trap today and caught the accused officials red-handed while accepting the bribe money from the complainant.
