Bhubaneswar: Ace sprinter and India’s fastest woman Dutee Chand has announced her intention to enter active politics, but after her athletic career.
“I have always wanted to join politics since childhood. My family has also been involved in grassroots politics, with my mother being the sarpanch of our village,” Odisha girl Dutee tweeted.

Talking to Kalinga TV, 23-year-old Dutee said, “I will join politics in future, probably after my athletic career. Currently, I am focussing on World Championships starting in Doha on September 27 and preparing for Tokyo Olympics.”
When asked about her favourite political leader, Dutee said that BJD President and Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik is always her ideal political leader and Kandhamal MP Dr Achyuta Samanta as her Godfather, who has been helping her since long.
Earlier this year, Dutee hit the headlines when she had announced about her same-sex relationship.
