8 snake statues unearthed from Mahanadi river in Nayagarh

Around eight snake statues have been unearthed from Mahanadi river near Padmavati village in Bhapur block of the district

Nayagarh: Around eight snake statues have been unearthed from Mahanadi river near Padmavati village in Bhapur block of the district on Tuesday morning.

Report says, Trinath Rana of the same village had gone to Mahanadi ghat to take bath when he struck on something and found a huge snake statue and shouted loudly. On hearing his voice, locals rushed towards him and found snake statues inside water and recovered seven full snake statue and one half statue.

They took the statues and placed it near Jagannath Mandir at Padmavati village and a huge crowd was gathered to witness the statue.

Locals said, earlier they found Gopinath Mandir which was submerged in the Mahanadi river and it is believed that many things must be under water. They have also written a letter to the Collector to take proper investigation of the area in the water.
