6 Arrested For Torching Police Vehicle In Bhadrak Of Odisha

Bhadrak: Six persons have been arrested and forwarded to the court today for torching a police vehicle at Alinagar Square under Tihidi police limits of Bhadrak district in Odisha on January 13.

According to reports, the accused were arrested for their involvement in attacking the cops and setting the police vehicle on fire during an unrest which was caused following the death of a youth of Hatuari village.

The native of Hatuari village accidentally died while being chased by police on January 13. Irate over his death, the locals subsequently blocked the Bhadrak-Chandbali road.

Later, they stopped a police van, carrying a convict, at the protest spot and thrashed the cops who were inside the vehicle. The angry mob also set the police van on fire. 

The Assistant SP, Tihidi Tehsildar along with five platoons of police force rushed to spot and took control over the situation.

Tihidi Police had launched an investigation into the matter by filing a complaint against more than 100 persons, out of whom six accused have been arrested today,

Further probe into the case is still underway.
