Bhubaneswar: A day after Odisha police launched drive against drunken drive at 14 toll gates across the state under the amended MV Act, police today arrested as many as 38 persons for driving under the influence of alcohol.
Police said that as many as 10 cases of drunken driving were detected from Barapali toll gate in Sundargarh district while four people were arrested from Manguli toll gate in Cuttack district.
Police said that if alcohol content exceeds 30 mg. per 100 ml. of blood or the drug consumed makes the driver incapable of exercising proper control over the vehicle, the concerned driver will be arrested.
Police said that the drive will be intensified under the amended act which came into effect from September 1.
