32 shops sealed in Bhubaneswar Market Building

Bhubaneswar: As many as 32 shops in Bhubaneswar Market Building in Unit-2 have been sealed by the officials of Rajdhani Puja Samiti.

The Rajdhani Puja Samiti sealed the shops for reportedly not paying rents for several years, informed the Puja Samiti’s President Abanikant Pattanaik.

According to Abanikant, the Rajdhani Puja Samiti has given a total of 72 shops in rent. However, 32 shops have not paid the rent for the past several years, which is about Rs 3.5 crore.

Despite repeated notice and requests, the shop owners did not pay the due rent which is why a joint team of police force, employees of the electricity department and members of Rajdhani Puja Samiti led by Abanikant sealed the shops.

The team did not seal other shops, which also have not paid the due rent for about 3-4 years, as the owners made some payments on the spot while some other shop owners produced a court’s stay order.
