2 youths thrashed for raising ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ slogans in Odisha bus

Bargarh: While anti-Pakistan sentiments in the country is at its peak, at least two youths have been beaten up black and blue by commuters inside a government bus near Mahadevpali on Binika-Sonepur road in Bargarh district last night.

While the identification of the accused youth duo could not have been made so far they are suspected to be residents of Tamil Nadu State from their dialects.

The incident took place last night while an OSRTC Bargarh-Cuttack bus was on its way on Binika-Sonepur road to its destination. The accused duo boarded the bus from Barpali and was seen in inebriated conditions.

“The accused duo who seemed to be non-Odias started using foul languages a few minutes after boarding the bus between Binika and Tundupali. After the fellow passengers opposed them, they started raising pro-Pakistan slogans and shouted ‘Pakistan Zindabad’,” informed Bichitrananda swain, Conductor of the bus.

Later, the accused duo faced the wrath of the passengers of the bus and was detained and assaulted mercilessly. One of the accused sustained head injury in the attack and bled profusely.

Bargarh Police reached the spot and arrested the youth duo and rushed to Binika CHC for treatment.

“An investigation is underway in the incident and the held accused duo is currently under treatment. Their identity is yet to be ascertained,” informed Mihir Kumar Panda, Sonepur SDPO.
