10 tolas foreign gold seized in Bhubaneswar, investigation underway

Based on specific intelligence, officers of the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) carried out a search of a premises at Bhubaneswar.

Bhubaneswar: Based on specific intelligence, officers of the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) carried out a search of a premises at Bhubaneswar on Thursday.

During the raid and the proceedings, 2.465 kilograms of foreign-marked gold in the form of gold biscuits and Ten Tola bars were recovered.

Investigations revealed that the gold was illegally smuggled into the country, said reliable reports.

According to reports, under the provisions of law the gold has been seized and one person has been arrested in terms of the provisions of the Customs Act, 1962.

The arrested person has been remanded to judicial custody and further investigation in this matter is underway, said latest reports.
