Security breach at PM Modi’s roadshow in Karnataka, mobile thrown at him

A mobile phone was thrown towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vehicle on Sunday during his roadshow in Mysuru.

Karnataka: In a serious security breach, a mobile phone was thrown towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vehicle on Sunday during his roadshow in Mysuru, Karnataka. In order to boost the BJP’s campaign for the Karnataka assembly elections, Modi was staging a massive roadshow.

On both sides of the road, a large number of people and BJP supporters had gathered to greet the Prime Minister. The phone was hurled out of “excitement” by a woman BJP worker who had no “ill-intention”, police told.

Visuals showed the phone landing on the bonnet of the vehicle and they are being flagged by the PM. As the rally continued, the PM directed it to the attention of the Special Protection Group sleuths who were accompanying him.

The person who threw the phone at the vehicle of PM had no ill intention & was thrown in excitement. The PM was under the protection of SPG. The phone belongs to a BJP worker. We have traced the person, the phone was handed over to the person by the SPG,” Alok Kumar, ADGP law & order said.

“In the excitement (of the event), it was thrown and she had no (ill) intention but we are trying to trace the lady because the phone was handed over to her by the SPG sleuths,” he added.

The incident occurred as Modi waved at crowds congregating on both sides of the road, flanked by MP Pratap Simha of Mysuru-Kodagu and former ministers K S Eshwarappa and S A Ramadas.

Modi held public meetings at Humnbad in Bidar district, the district headquarter town of Vijaypura, Kudachi inBelgavi district and a roadshow in Bengaluru on Saturday.

On Sunday, he addressed election rallies in Kolar City, channapatna in Ramanagara district and Belur in Hassan district culminating with the roadshow here. Karnataka votes on May 10 and results will be declared on May 13.
