Man loses Rs 77 lakh in YouTube like scam in Nagpur

Nagpur: In a fresh cybercrime incident, a Nagpur resident fell victim to a online fraudster and lost Rs 77 lakhs. The fraudulent scheme persuaded Sarikonda Raju to earn money by merely “liking” videos on the popular platform, YouTube.

According to police, Raju received a message via telegram account. The scammer convinced Raju to send screenshots of YouTube channels he had liked and had lured the victim that he will be receiving Rs 50 on completion of the task and requested him to share his bank details.

Raju then received some amount after completion of the task and shared the scammer details of his bank account for depositing the amount. The fraudster managed to draw Rs 77 lakh from his account and transferred it into some account.

Later, the police apprehended a bookie named Sagar from Gadge Nagar on Ramna Maroti Road while he was accepting bets on the World Cup match between India and Pakistam.
