Man arrested for cheating woman on matrimonial site in Tamil Nadu
A man was arrested for allegedly cheating a woman of Rs 3 lakh and 120 grams of gold jewellery in Tamil Nadu's Thanjavur.
Chennai: A man was arrested for allegedly cheating a woman of Rs 3 lakh and 120 grams of gold jewellery in Tamil Nadu’s Thanjavur.
According to reports, the victim, a resident of Thiruvidaimarudhur, filed a complaint about the matter in November 2023. In the complaint, she stated that she encountered the man, identified as, Sibichakravarthy, on a matrimonial site where he falsely promised to marry her.
The accused reportedly took advantage of the woman being a widow and convinced her to part with her money and jewellery.
Based on the complaint, police arrested Sibichakravarthy and initiated an investigation into the matter. During preliminary investigation, it was revealed that the accused had misrepresented himself on the matrimonial site, claiming to be an engineer despite having only completed 12th class. He specifically used to target widows.
Reportedly, multiple pending cases are registered against him. Asearch through his phone revealed pictured of him posing as a couple with around 80 different women.
