India reports 1,272 Covid 19 infections, active cases decreases to 16,498

There are 2,720 recoveries in the last 24 hours and people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 4,443,389.

New Delhi: India on Sunday reported 1,272 fresh COVID-19 infections in the last 24 hours, according to Union Health Ministry data.

The active caseload in the country stands at 16,498. Yesterday, India recorded 1,223 new COVID cases, while the active cases reported were 16,498.

As many as 2,720 recoveries were recorded in the 24 hours, and with this, the recovery rate was recorded at 98.78 per cent. People who have recovered from the disease surged to 4,443,389 while the case fatality rate was at 1.18 per cent.

The active cases comprise 0.03 per cent of the total infections.

The daily positivity rate is 0.86 per cent and the weekly positivity rate stands at 1.30 per cent, according to the ministry.

The number of covid tests done during the previous day was 1,24,628. According to the ministry’s website, 220.66 crore doses of Covid vaccines have been administered so far under the nationwide vaccination drive.
