India Calls on Pakistan to “Vacate POK, Stop Terrorism” in strong rebuke at UN

In a powerful retort at the United Nations (UN) GeneralAssembly, India firmly addressed Pakistan, condemning cross-border terrorism.

New Delhi: In a powerful rebuke at the United Nations (UN) GeneralAssembly, India firmly addressed Pakistan, condemning its continuous support for cross-border terrorism and highlighting its human rights violations. The Indian delegation emphasized the need for Pakistan to take action in dismantling terror infrastructure within its borders and demanded the vacation of Indian territories under its illegal occupation.

Pakistan’s ad hoc Prime Minister, Anwar Ul Haq Kakar, had earlier raised the Kashmir issue during his address to the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York, prompting India to exercise India to exercise its right to reply.

India’s First Secretary at the UN for the second committee of UNGA, Petal Gahlot, accused Pakistan of habitual misuse of international forums to spread baseless propaganda against India, emphasizing that Jammu and Kashmir are integral parts of India. Gahlot stated that Pakistan had no right to comment on India’s domestic matters.

Gahlot outlined three essential actions for peace in South Asia, urging Pakistan to halt cross-border terrorism, vacate Indian territories under illegal occupation, and stop human rights violations against minorities. The diplomat also urged credible and verifiable action against the perpetrators of the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks.

Highlighting Pakistan’s concerning human rights record, Gahlot pointed out brutal attacks on minority communities and deplorable conditions face by women from these communities. She further criticized Pakistan for being a haven for internationally prescribed terrorist entities and individuals.

India has consistently emphasized that terror and talks cannot coexist, reiterating concerns over Pakistan’s support and sponsorship of cross-border terrorism.

In his address, Pakistan’s temporary PM Kakar expressed a desire for peace with India, underlining that resolving the Kashmir issue was crucial for peace between both the nations.

Meanwhile, Dr S Jaishankar, the External Affairs Minister of India, is set to address the 78th session of the UNGA on September 26, representing India on the global stage.
