Defence Minister Rajnath Singh arrives in Jammu to assess security situation of J&K after Poonch attack

Rajnath Singh has arrived in Jammu-Kashmir's Rajouri Poonch to review the anti-terror operations and the security conditions.

Jammu and Kashmir: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has arrived in Jammu-Kashmir’s Rajouri Poonch to review the anti-terror operations and the security conditions.

Singh’s visit comes after a terror attack in the area that occurred during last week. Four army officials, including two captains, were killed in the attack. Three other soldiers sustained severe injuries. During the beginning of this week, Chief of Army Staff General Manoj Pande had also visited Poonch to assess the security conditions.

At 11 AM on Wednesday Rajnath Singh landed in Jammu. Reliable reports tell us that Lieutenant Governer Manoj Singh and other senior army officials received him. Next he was taken to Rajouri Poonch area via a special helicopter.

Next, local army commanders will be briefing Rajnath Singh on the current scenario. A crucial meeting is set to take place at the White Knight Corps headquarters and Raj Bhawan. The meeting will see the participation of top Army officials. This includes Norther Army Commander Liuetenant General Upendra Dwivedi  and White Knight Corps Commander Lieutenant General Sandeep Jain among others.

Reportedly, Singh will also be seen engaging with residents of the area. He may also share government job appointment letters to the family members of the deceased civilians.
