CPM joins hands with DMK for Tamil Nadu elections

Chennai: The Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPM) on Tuesday announced that it will have an alliance with the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) for the upcoming elections in Tamil Nadu.

“We have decided today that in Tamil Nadu, we will be with the DMK in the forthcoming elections. We are together on the issue of saving the unity, integrity, and harmony of the people of India and the country’s Constitutional institutions,” said CPM leader Sitaram Yechury after meeting DMK president MK Stalin.

“All the secular-minded parties should come together. We have a common objective. Alliances will take place at the state level. CPM will be with DMK at the state level,” he added.
