Bureaucrat’s son mows down his girlfriend with car in Mumbai, describes her horrifying ordeal

Mumbai: A 26-year-old woman sustained serious injuries after her boyfriend allegedly tried to mow her down with his car near a hotel in Thane of Maharashtra.
The incident took place on December 11 at around 4.30 am near a hotel on Ghodbunder Road in Thane.
According to reports, the victim Priya Singh’s boyfriend identified as Ashwajit Gaikwad, is son of a senior bureaucrat Anil Gaikwad, a Managing Director at the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation.
The woman had gone to meet Ashwajit Gaikwad at a family function after he called her. An argument broke out between the two and in a fit of rage he started hitting her. Later, when the victim collected her belongings from his car and started leaving, the one who was driving the vehicle tried to mow her down, due to which she fell down and suffered serious injuries.
Priya Singh shared her ordeal on her instagram profile and said, she had gone to meet Ashwajit at 4 am on December 11 at a family function after he called her. She noticed that he was “behaving strangely” and asked to talk to him in private.
“My boyfriend slapped me, tried to strangle my neck, I tried to push him away. He bit my hand, beat me, pulled my hair and his friend out of nowhere pushed me to the ground.”
Before I could realise they started walking towards their cars. I immediately rushed to my boyfriend near his car to get my phone and bag (he had snatched my belongings during the fight and kept it in his car). As soon as I reached to his Car (Range Rover Defender) I heard him Say “Uda de isko” to his driver (Sagar).
His driver speed up the car and hit me from the left corner of the vehicle which got me to the ground and the rear left wheel of the car went over my right leg,” she wrote.
“My right leg is broken and I had to undergo surgery, had to put a rod in my right leg. I have bruises all over my body, my arms, my back and my stomach area is deeply scrapped,” Priya added.
Priya claimed that she was lying on the road, in pain, for nearly half an hour before a passerby stopped and called for help. She was immediately taken to a nearby hospital where she is currently undergoing treatment.
After her story on instagram got viral has gained popularity and the police registered a case against accused Ashwajit Gaikwad and two others under Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 279 (rash driving), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) and others at the Kasarvadavali police station.
Later, the police started a probe into the matter and till now no arrest have been made yet.
