8 killed after illegal firecracker factory explodes in West Bengal’s Duttapukur

At least eight people were killed and several others sustained injuries after a massive blast at an illegal firecracker factory in Duttapukur.

West Bengal: In a devastating incident at least eight people were killed and several others sustained injuries after a massive blast at an illegal firecracker factory in Duttapukur, North 24 Parganas, West Bengal on Sunday.

The explosion occurred at around 10 a.m. at the factory in Nilgunj’s Moshpole area, which is located just 3 kilometers away from West Bengal State University.

Reports indicate that multiple individuals were inside the factory at the time of the explosion. The force of the blast was so intense that it completely destroyed the roof of the building, and the bodies of the victims were tragically found scattered on the ground, severely burned and dismembered.

The injured individuals have been rushed to a nearby hospital for medical attention. To ensure safety, the police have cordoned off the entire area surrounding the factory.

The exact cause of this tragic blast is still under investigation. However, initial suspicions point towards the illegal storage of firecrackers as a possible factor.
