6 killed in massive fire at hotel near Patna Railway station

Patna: At least six people lost their lives in a massive fire that broke out in a hotel close to the Patna junction railway station on Thursday, a senior official said.

The incident took place in a crowded locality near the railway station.

More than 30 people have been rescued. 7 are seriously injured and have been sent to hospital, informed Krishna Murari, DSP (law & order), Patna.

On being informed about the incident, seven to eight fire tenders were rushed to the spot and the blaze was controlled after two hours. Fire brigade officials indicate that the death toll may rise.  Several vehicles were also gutted in the fire.

“The fire has been brought under control now,” Patna fire department director general Shobha Ahokakar said.
