400 rooms booked for Global leaders ahead of G20 Summit in Delhi-NCR, Check details

Reports indicate that room reservations have been made at prominent hotels, including ITC Maurya, Taj Palace, The Oberoi, etc.

New Delhi: In a significant diplomatic event, US President Joe Biden, along with a group of world leaders, is scheduled to visit India in the second week of September to attend the G20 Summit. The summit’s primary sessions will take place in the national capital on September 9-10, and it is expected to witness the participation of 29 heads of state, top officials from the European Union, invited guest countries, and 14 heads of international organizations. To accommodate these dignitaries, several hotels in the Delhi-NCR region have been reserved.

Reports indicate that room reservations have been made at prominent hotels, including ITC Maurya, Taj Palace, The Oberoi, The Lodhi, The Imperial, and Le Meridien. President Biden and his entourage will be housed within the 400 rooms of ITC Maurya, which has previously welcomed US Presidents George W. Bush, Bill Clinton, and Barack Obama, among other heads of state, reported Navbharat Times. In preparation for the President’s visit, the US Secret Service is conducting security assessments at the hotel.

Chinese President Xi Jinping is expected to stay at Delhi’s Taj Hotel, while Hotel Shangri-La is making arrangements to host the UK’s Rishi Sunak and officials from Germany. French President Emmanuel Macron and his accompanying officials will be accommodated at Claridges, and Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese will check in at the Imperial Hotel in Delhi.

In anticipation of the high-profile event, Delhi’s Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has approved a proposal for the closure of offices and commercial establishments in the Union Territory. According to reports, all private and Delhi government offices will remain closed from September 8 to 10. Additionally, banks and commercial establishments, including markets, in the New Delhi district will observe a three-day closure. Schools and colleges will also remain shut during this period.
