Guwahati: At least 23 army personnel were reported missing following a flash flood in the Teesta River, triggered by a sudden cloudburst over Lhonak Lake in Guwahati.

The flash flood was exacerbated by the release of water from the Chungthang dam, causing a sudden surge in water levels downstream, reaching as high as 15-20 feet.

This dramatic rise in water levels has had a significant impact on Army vehicles parked near Singtam, particularly at Bardang.

The search operation for the 23 army personnel is underway. The situation remains fluid, and efforts are being made to locate and ensure the safety of those who have been reported missing.
