1 CRPF official killed, another injured in Sukma Naxallite attack

Chhattisgarh: In a tragic incident, one CRPF official lost his life while another was left injured after a Naxal group opened fire on them. The tragic incident took place on Sunday morning near the Bedre village in Sukma district of Chhattisgarh, under the limits of Jagargunda police station.

Reports from reliable sources state that the CRPF officials of the 165th battalion were returning to their base after carrying out an anti-Naxal operation. The maoist attack in Sukma claimed the life of CRPF Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) and another Jawan.

During the fire breakout in Sukma, a constable identified as C Ramu, grave injuries from bullets. He reportedly received two wounds on his shoulder and two on his hands. Further, the ASI went missing amidst the attack. Later, a search party unit recovered his dead body.

The injured Jawan was immediately taken to the camp for urgent medical assistance. The officials belonged to the 165th battalion from Urasaungal. Reportedly, they were in the middle of a search operation when the Naxals launched an open fire at around 7 AM.

A total of four suspects were rounded up from the spot. Further details into the matter are awaited.
