Zomato to charge additional Rs 2 per order as Platform fee, Here’s what you need to know

The Rs 2 platform fee will be charged irrespective of your cart value and will also applicable to the users of Zomato Gold.

In a latest update, Zomato has introduced an Rs 2 platform fee on its delivery app. The fee will be charged per order and is currently for selected markets only.

The platform fee will be charged irrespective of your cart value. The fee is also applicable to the users of Zomato Gold. The areas in which Zomato will currently test the fee on is yet to be known.

This comes recently after Zomato rival Swiggy announced a platform fee of Rs 2 on all orders in April.

Zomato’s Rs 2 platform charge is in its experimental and testing phase till now. The fee will be implemented across all areas if found successful in boosting profitability.

A spokesperson for the food delivery app said that they are still in their experimenting stage and chances are there that they might not even succeed.

Conveying about the additional charge, Zomato said that it will help pay the bills and keep Zomato running.

The Zomato platform fee has come up at a time when the company reported its first ever quarterly profit of Rs 2 crore from April-June. The company’s sales saw a boot of 64 percent. This showed significant progress compares to the loss of Rs 186 crore recorded last year.
