Srinagar’s Tulip garden enters World book of records as Asia’s largest of its kind

Srinagar's tulip garden features a stunning collection of 1.5 million tulip bulbs, with 68 different varieties of the flowers.

The famous Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip garden In Srinagar has made it to the headlines. In a remarkable achievement, the garden has been declared as Asia’s biggest garden of its kind. With this, Srinagar’s tulip garden has entered the London World book of records.

Hardeep Singh Puri, Union Minister, took to his official handle on X (formerly Twitter) to share this exciting piece of news.

It is to be noted that this tulip garden features a stunning collection of 1.5 million tulip bulbs, with 68 different varieties of the flowers. This beautiful garden has already welcomed over a lakh visitors, creating quite the sensation.

Located between the Dal Lake and Zabarwan hills of Srinagar, the tulip garden stretches across 30 hectares. Notably, the garden is not just limited to tulips. In addition to tulips, one can also find blooming flowers like hyacinths, daffodils, muscari, and cyclamens.

Srinagar Tourism tells us that the park was formerly known as Siraj Bagh. It was opened in the year 2007 to boost both floriculture and tourism in the Kashmit Valley. It is built on a sloping land in a stepped design with seven levels.

To celebrate the beauty of the natural wonder, the Jammu and Kashmir hosts a yearly Tulip festival at the onset of spring each year.
