Odisha gears up for Yoga Day 2019 tomorrow

Bhubaneswar: People from all walks of life irrespective of age, creed, and caste are excited to observe the International Day of Yoga or Yoga Day tomorrow. While enthusiasts across the country are excited about the day, in Odisha too the fervour is high. Tomorrow yoga camps will be organized by different organisations at different places of the capital city.

On the occasion of International Yoga Day tomorrow East Coast Railway will observe the day at the East Coast Railway’s community hall at Rail Vihar in Bhubaneswar. General Manager of East Coast Railway will inaugurate the event and administer an oath to the participants.

Besides, Patanjali Yoga Samiti of Bhubaneswar is also going to organize a mass yoga campaign at the Kasturaba Sikhyshram ground at Nayapalli in the capital city.

Yoga camps have also been organised at the CRPF campus in Bhubaneswar where Jawans of CRPF, BSF, CISF, and ITBP will practice yoga with the public at the camp.

Also, yoga camps are organised in Cuttack, Rourkela, Balasore, Konark, Bolangir, Jeypore and Bhadrak to mark the importance of the day.

Yoga holds significant importance in everyone’s life. The incredible benefits of Yoga are incomparable. The art of practicing Yoga controls one’s mind, body, and soul. Yoga is an ancient practice which is performed and given importance in our country for ages.

In today’s fast paced life people have become a victim of sedentary lifestyle which results in an increase of physical and mental stress. Busy with achieving targets and completing deadlines, people often forget to take care of their own health. Moreover, less involvement in physical activities is the root cause of increase in diseases among people of all age groups.

If we compare the health and lifestyle of the present generation with the people living 30 years back, we will find a hell and heaven difference. At present intolerance, selfishness, crime is at verge which was comparatively fewer years before. Moreover, earlier people used to live a healthy and long life, now people fall victim to diseases at their early stages of life.

An effective remedy for these problems is ‘Yoga’.  Unless one practices yoga one can’t understand its miraculous benefits. It not only work wonders for the body but for the mind as well. It improves concentration, focus, manages stress and anxiety.

With an aim to raise global awareness about the incredible benefits of yoga International day of Yoga a.k.a Yoga Day is been observed on June 21 every year since 2015.

The idea of International Day of Yoga was first proposed by the current Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi during his speech at the UNGA, on 27 September 2014. Thereafter, the resolution on ‘International Day of Yoga’ was introduced by India’s Ambassador to UN Asoke Mukerji. Adopted under the agenda of ‘Global Health and Foreign Policy,’ the resolution gained the support of 177 nations who later joined as co-sponsors for Yoga Day.
