Missing Assam man found in Odisha after 12 years

A man from Assam’s Kamrup district, who went missing 12 years ago, was tracked down in Puri district of Odisha

Puri: A man from Assam who was missing from Punjab since last 12 years, was recently found in Puri district of Odisha. With the help of Police and administration, the missing man was reunited with his family in Assam.

The missing man has been identified as 68 year old Suren Kalta originally from Barka village in Kamalpur area of Kamrup district in Assam. He was missing from Punjab since last 12 years. He was traced out by Kamalpur MLA Diganta Kalta at the Pipili bypass road in Puri district of Odisha on October 23 evening.

Later, he was rescued with the help of Pipili Police and sent to Barka in Assam, his native place. He was reunited with his family members. They received and welcomed him. The family members were overwhelmed to find him.

Puri SP KV Singh informed about this incident in an X post on Thursday. The caption of the post reads, “Outstanding Work by Pipili Police ! A heartwarming reunion after 12 long years. Our officers have successfully rescued a missing elderly man and reunited him with his family in Assam. Their happiness and our satisfaction in reunion knew no boundaries.”
