Volkswagen Virtus launched in India, Check the price and specifications

Volkswagen has finally introduced its new mid-size sedan ‘Volkswagen Virtus’ in India on Thursday. The new Volkswagen sedan is based on the MQB AO-IN platform which is the same as that of the Skoda Slavia. The Volkswagen Virtus will compete in the segment which is occupied by Honda City, Hyundai Verna and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz.

Power and dimensions

The new Volkswagen Virtus sedan is powered by a powerful 1.0-litre TSI engine in 6-speed manual transmission or 6-speed automatic transmission options. The engine offers 115hp of power and 178 Nm of torque. The other engine that is offered on the sedan is a 1.5-litre TSI four-cylinder turbo petrol engine. The engine generates a peak power of 150hp while the maximum power is 250 Nm. The 1.5-litre engine gets a 7-speed DSG transmission.

In terms of exterior, the Volkswagen sedan is quite similar to that of the Skoda Slavia (due to the same platform). However The Virtus gets a two-slat grille, auto LED headlamps, wraparound bumper and a neat design of the bumper. In terms of dimensions, the VW Virtus measures 4561mm in length, 1752mm in width and 1507mm in height. The wheelbase of the sedan is 2651mm while the boot space is 521 litres.

Features

The sedan is loaded with more than 40 safety features in order to meet the requirements of the users. The safety features include 6 Airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Multi-Collision Brakes, LED headlamps with LED DRL, Split LED tail lamps, 3 headrests at rear, reversing camera etc. The convenience features include keyless entry, auto ac, cruise control, front ventilated leather seats, spacious interiors, large boot space, multi-function steering wheel etc. Connectivity features on the Virtus sedan include Android Auto and Apple Carplay, large touchscreen infotainment (25.65 cm), wireless mobile charging, Volkswagen Connectivity 2.0 etc.

The Volkswagen Virtus will be available in six colour options which include Wild Cherry Red, Volkswagen Virtus, Reflex Silver, Curcuma Yellow, Carbon Steel Grey and Candy White.

The prices of the Volkswagen Virtus start at Rs 11.21 lakh and goes up to Rs 17.91 lakh. The Volkswagen Virtus is available in four variants- Comfortline, Highline, Topline and GT. While all the variants get a 1.0 TSI MT/ 1.0 TSI AT engine, the GT variant gets 1.5 TSI DSG engine.

 Warranty

The Volkswagen Virtus gets a warranty of 4 year/ 1,00,000km warranty which can be extended up to 7 years and 1,50,000km for Rs 11,525. The service package of the 1.0-litre variants costs Rs 20,388 while 1.5-litre will cost Rs 22,881.
