Tata Safari and Harrier receive first-ever Bharat NCAP 5-Star safety rating
The new Tata Safari and Harrier SUVs have become the first cars to receive a five-star rating from the Bharat New Car Assessment Programme (Bharat-NCAP).
The new Tata Safari and Harrier SUVs have become the first cars to receive a five-star safety rating for both adult occupant protection and child occupant protection from the Bharat New Car Assessment Programme (Bharat-NCAP).
As per the report, both the Harrier and Safari SUVs were awarded 30.08/32 points for adult occupant protection (AOP) and 44.54 out of a maximum of 49 for child occupant protection (COP).
Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari took to Twitter to congratulate Tata Motors after its new Safari and Harrier models got the first-ever Bharat – NCAP 5-star rating.
He tweeted, “Congratulations to Tata Motors for the historic achievement! Presenting the first-ever Bharat – NCAP 5-star rating certification to the new Safari and Harrier is a momentous stride in enhancing consumer safety. BNCAP stands as India’s independent advocate for vehicle safety, setting benchmarks to global standards.”
“A commendable feat that resonates with the commitment to excellence and the well-being of the Indian consumer,” he added.
Based on the OMEGARC architecture, the new Safari and Harrier are packed with an array of safety features including 7 airbags with 6 as standard across personas, 3-point seatbelts in all rows with Seat Belt Reminder, Electronic Stability Control, and Isofix tethers. Moreover, the Seatbelts come with a Retractor, Pretensioner, Load Limiter (RPLL), and anchor pretensioner. Both SUVs have an enhanced reinforced cabin structure to provide safety to passengers in symmetric crashes and side pole impacts.
Note: The OMEGARC architecture is derived from Land Rover’s renowned D8 Platform.
The Global NCAP also provided a 5-star rating in crash tests for both the Tata SUVs.
