2024 MG Astor launched in India; Pricing starts at Rs 9.98 lakh

MG Motor India has launched the 2024 MG Astor in India. The new entry level of the SUV starts at Rs 9.98 lakh. On the other hand, the top spec variant costs Rs 17.88 lakh. The SUV also gets some new features in some specific variants. The Astor competes with the likes of Creta and Seltos in India.

The 2024 MG Astor is offered in multiple variants and that include Sprint, Shine, Select, Sharp Pro and Savvy Pro. The SUV used to be offered in Style, Super, Smart, Sharp and Savvy variants. There has been a drop in the price of the new Astor. The initial model used to cost Rs 10.81 lakh and now it is Rs 83,000 less. This makes the Astor more affordable. Similarly, the turbo charged engine is now offered in Savvy Pro trim.

On the interior, the entry level Sprint model gets daytime running lamps (DRLs), LED headlamps, dual-tone interior, soft-touch dashboard, automatic climate control, leather-wrapped steering wheel, and a 10.1-inch infotainment screen. The i-Smart infotainment software also gets newer connected features.

In terms of engine, the 2024 Astor remains unchanged. We do get a 1.5-litre NA four-cylinder petrol engine that produces 144Nm torque and 110hp. It is paired with a five-speed manual transmission or CVT automatic gearbox. The other engine option is the 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine that is paired with a 6-speed torque converter automatic.

In India, the MG Astor competes with the likes of Hyundai Creta, Maruti Grand Vitara, Kia Seltos, Citroen C5 Aircross, Skoda Kushaq/ Volkswagen Taigun etc.
