Odisha health dept alert Dist Collectors, Municipal Commissioners on rise of Covid-19 cases

Bhubaneswar: Due to the rise in the Covid-19 cases in India, the Director of Public Health, Odisha have asked the District Collectors, Municipal Commissioners, and Chief District Medical Officers to remain vigil and alert.

At the district level there should be constant review of emerging data, based on a sustained and critical level of testing to facilitate decision for restriction/ relaxation which should be evidence based.

Covid cases are rising in 4 to 5 states in India, But the situation in Odisha is under control and not worrisome. But the cases can rise at any moment. In order to control the situation, the health department is taking precautionary measure to curb the situation.

The department has asked to keep a vigil eye on the cluster outbreak of the deadly virus and there should be in-house strengthening of testing and surveillance. If there is rise in cases, the district administration have been asked to prepare a contingency action plan.

Pandemic is still there and everybody has to remain cautious, so co-operation from the people is very much essential and if infection escalates, then we can think of imposing restrictions, informed  Director of Public Health Niranjan Mishra.
