Apple likely to launch a new 13-Inch MacBook Pro in March, All we know so far

Apple is rumored to be working on a new 13-inch MacBook Pro and it could launch in the upcoming spring of this year. The tech giant might unveil a higher-end 14-inch and 16-inch versions as well. However, the company has not revealed any information about this.

Lets us take a look at the expected launch date, specifications and other details.

13-Inch MacBook Pro Design, specifications

The 2020 model of Apple’s 13-inch MacBook Pro was launched alongside the MacBook Air and the ‌M1‌ Mac mini in November 2020. Now the company may update all the three product lines.

According to reports, the new 13-inch MacBook Pro design will remain the same as before that means it will have the same chassis with a Touch Bar. This feature has been removed from the higher-end 14-inch and 16-inch Macs. However, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has suggested that Apple will remove the Touch Bar.

As the new 13-inch MacBook Pro is said to arrive under the affordable category, it may not support the 120Hz ProMotion refresh rates and will not have the mini-LED display.

The updated 13-inch MacBook Pro is expected to come with a possible updated M2 chip. The ‌M2‌ is said to have the same 8-core CPU as the ‌M1‌, but there will be speed and efficiency improvements as it could be built on a smaller node. The M2 chip will also have additional GPU cores and the company expected to offer the 9 and 10-core GPU options. The original ‌M1‌ chip was avaialble in the 7 and 8-core GPU options.

The ‌M2‌ will be not be as powerful as the M1 Pro and the M1 Max. The company is suggested to bring the ‌M2‌ Pro and ‌M2‌ Max as the successor of the M1 Pro and the M1 Max.

Apple is expected to use the ‌M2‌ chip in the updated 13-inch MacBook Pro and the 2022 MacBook Air.

14-Inch and 16-Inch MacBook Pro

Apple unveiled the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models in November 2021. There is not much information about the updated versions of these models. Apple may not change the design of the new models because the 2021 models had a new look with mini-LED display. They will have new chips.

The upcoming Apple 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models is expected to use the rumoured M2‌ Pro and ‌M2‌ Max chips.

Release Timelines

Macrumors reported citing trusted sources that Apple 13-inch MacBook Pro could be introduced at the company’s spring event, which is expected to take place on Tuesday, March 8. If this comes out t be true then the  M2‌ chip will also be unveiled in March. Bloomberg’s ‌Mark Gurman‌ has also suggested that Apple is working on a new 13-inch MacBook Pro, but he has not provided specific information on a release date.
