Boudh: A police constable has been suspended after a video of him thrashing a youth in the district became viral on social media.
The constable identified as Ranjan Mahapatra was seen beating a youth brutally with a plastic pipe in the video. The constable was seen dressed in plain clothes while assaulting the youth in the presence of other cops.
Sources said that Mahapatra assaulted the youth for allegedly harassing a girl for the past few days. Police said that the youth was later arrested and forwarded to the court.
Though the incident took place on Wednesday, the matter came to light today after the video became viral on social media.
