Bhubaneswar: In what could be a serious issue for the sports administration in the city, Chief Coach of the Indian hockey team Sjoerd Marijne has stated that one portion of the turf could be ‘bumpy.’
While addressing a press conference after the draw against Australia in its first match of Hockey World League finals, the coach said the ball in the last penalty corner attempt could not be stopped because the pitch was bumpy. He was backed the skipper Manpreet Singh.
“The last one we couldn’t stop. There is a little bump on the pitch,” the coach said.
However, it is unlikely that the issue will be raised with the concerned officials.
“They (officials) would be knowing about it. There is nothing that can be done about it anymore and we will have to find a way to deal with it,” he said.
