School Committee boycotts Mid-Day-Meal

Mid-Day_MealBhadrak: The Managing Committee of Hari Narayan Public school under Bhadrak Municipality in Odisha boycotted the Mid-Day-Meal on Friday, protesting against the poor quality of food served to the students of the school.

The aggrieved committee members took the served meal to the office of the Bhadrak District Collector and complained against the agency serving the food. They claimed that the agency had never followed the minimum quality standards of the food set by the the government.

A private agency has been awarded the responsibility of serving Mid-Day-Meal to this school according to a tender process.

The Headmistress of the school had drawn the attention of the higher authorities time and again to the poor quality of food served to the students of the school but no action has been taken so far, the committee claimed.

Mid-Day-Meal scheme has been implemented with an aim to increase students’ enrollment and check dropout rates in rural and semi-urban areas across the nation.
