Balasore: A group of miscreants vandalized Hotel Rabi Plaza located beside NH-5 near Bahanaga under Khantapada police limits in the district last night and decamped over Rs 1 lakh at gun point.
“At least 6 armed men reached the hotel on two bikes at around 6.40 PM. Initially they had dinner at a restaurant operating inside the hotel pretending to be customers, later entered into a heated argument with the waiters over bill payment. Later on they put me at the gun point and started asking for Rs 20,000. As I expressed my inability to pay the amount they started vandalizing the assets in the restaurant,” said Asish Kumar Biswal, owner of Rabi Plaza.
“The miscreants then attacked some staff of the hotel and injured them. Later on they broke the cash box of the restaurant and took away Rs 1.4 lakh kept inside that before driving away,” he added.
Khantapada Police have reached the spot and started an investigation into the incident.
