Bhanjanagar: In a shocking incident, a minor girl was allegedly sexually assaulted by two persons while returning home after attending the Independence Day function in her college in Ganjam district in Odisha on Tuesday.
The 16 year-old victim, a student of Belaguntha +2 Science College, was stopped by the miscreants near Bada river and gang-raped by the side of the river. The hapless girl narrated the ordeal to her family when she reached home. Later, her parents called the police.
An FIR has been registered under IPC 376 at Belaguntha police station in connection with the case and the traumatised girl has been sent to the hospital for medical examination and treatment.
“She was on her way home after attending the Independence Day function of her College,” said SDPO Utkal Keshari Das quoting from the statement of the victim. “The accused forcibly stopped the victim near Bada river and sexually assaulted her”.
Meanwhile, Police ahev launched a manhunt to nab the miscreants.
