Malkangir: Maoists gunned down a villager suspecting him to be a police informer at Pilobai Ghat in Chitrakonda of Malkangiri district on Sunday.
According to reports, around 10 armed red rebels came to the spot by a motor boat and shot one Syam Pangi to death.
Pangi had left his native Janti village along with his family members and was living at Pilobai village as he was in the target of the Maoists. He had also sought security from the district police after getting life threat from the Maoist.
The incident has created panic among the local populace as Pangi was killed barely 1 KM away from the security camp.
