Elephant-Train Collision: Four forest officials suspended in Odisha

Jharsuguda: Two days after a speeding train ran over 4 elephants here, four forest officials were suspended for negligence of duty on Wednesday.

Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Sushant Kumar suspended forester Basant Pradhan and three forest guards namely Sunil Bhue, Biswanath Pradhan and Rohit Majhi for negligence while serving a show cause notice to the range officer (RO).

Earlier on Monday, the Howrah-Mumbai Mail (train no 12810) hit four jumbos at around 3.30 AM at Teladiah level-crossing under Chakradharpur railway division killing them on the spot. The jumbos killed in the mishap included a tusker, one female and two calves (one male and one female).
