Bhubaneswar: The name of some dissident MLAs from congress party in Odisha have not reportedly been found in the new list of All India Congress Committee (AICC) members just ahead of the AICC Plenary Session that began in New Delhi on Friday.
The MLAs whose name have been missing in the AICC list include Tara Prasad Bahinipati, Prafulla Majhi, Jogesh Singh, Chandrasekhar Majhi, Anshuman Mohanty, Devendra Sharma, Prakash Behera, K Surya Rao and Jacob Pradhan.
Besides, senior party leaders like Ananta Sethi, Kailash Acharya, Chandrasekhar Sahu and Ganeswar Behera were also excluded from the AICC members list.
In recent past, some Congress MLAs have openly come out against state party Chief Prasad Harichandan and even went on public that they will not contest the next general elections under his leadership in the state.
“The organisation of the Congress in Odisha has been weakening day by day due to poor leadership of Prasad Harichandan. I will not fight next elections under Harichandan’s leadership,” said Congress MLA from Sundergarh, Jogesh Singh on Thursday.
On his part, Congress Chief Whip and Jeypore MLA Tara Prasad Bahinipati also said, “I am unsure whether I will fight elections under Prasad but my mind tells me not to contest the polls.”
However, leaders like Sidharth Mohanty, Bijay Dwivedy, Sarada Pradhan, Diptirekha Mishra, Janaki Mallick, Arati Deo, Sougat Mohanty, Lalatendu Mohapatra, Debasis Bhuyan have been included in the AICC list.
