Bhanjanagar: Launching a crackdown on illegal hemp trade police seized a carload of explosives after conducting a raid in Nidhiapalli village under Bhanjanagar Police Station area in Ganjam district last night and arrested two persons.
The arrested drug peddlers have been identified as Rajkumar Digal and Manoj Kumar Digal of Kandhamal district.
Bhanjanagar police got a tip-off on the Ganja consignment which was being transported in a Bolero late in the night. After intercepting the vehicle on Nidhiapalli Road and conducting a thorough search police found 54 kg ganja from it and seized those. Two persons who were boarding the Bolero were taken into custody for interrogation.
Police said the drug consignment was being sent to Bhubaneswar from Kandhamal via Bhanjanagar.
The accused duo has been forwarded to court this morning.
